South Africa 2006

This blog is to cover my 12 week sabbatical to South Africa. The plan so far is to spend the first eight weeks at Esingeni, just outside Alicedale in the Eastern Cape on a Wildlife and Conservation course. Then the last four weeks will be spent catching up with a few friends and then meandering along the Garden Route from PE to Cape Town

Graham Racher is a world traveller, photographer, gig goer and IT professional. He has travelled to all the seven continents and captures the natural beauty that he finds there. He also seeks out the diverse wildlife that London, his home city, has to offer to enjoy and document. And when the sun sets he often engages in another of his passions, live music, recording images if he isn't too busy enjoying himself.

Esingeni Camp

Apart from a chance for me to practice uploading photos etc I thought it would be nice for people to see where I'll be staying.

Not Long Now

So it is a week until I fly out to South Africa. I checked the weather again and it's only 29C and cloudy today in Port Elizabeth, it was 31C earlier in the week and sunny! The worst thing about te last two weeks is that work is getting more manic than usual. You know how bad it is when people realise you are going on holiday for a couple of weeks and start trying to get you to do stuff before you go? Well multiply that six fold and you will get a good idea of what work has turned into. More so as you can't put things off for three months!
Now outside of work it's a matter of putting a few things in order, seeing friends before the off, and I should actually start to pack, not least to see if it will all fit in my rucksack. I have tidied the dining room now and a few things have migrated themselves onto the table in there. I just need to get everything else in there and start ticking it off the check list.
